Talk to a Highland Cow

Castles, Coos and Coastline

Scottish Castles abound in Aberdeenshire.

Visit ancient castles such as dramatic Dunnottar Castle, perched high above the North Sea or fabulous Fyvie Castle and hear about and feel its 800 years of grizzly history on a tour of this beautiful castle. We may also enjoy lunch here in the Butlers Pantry Tearoom or visit another one of my favourite amazing castles.

Soak in the spectacular coastal scenery, immerse yourself in a quaint fishing village, or stroll on miles of pristine beach with wonderful wildlife to spot like seals, dolphins and the occasional whale. Maybe you'll be eagle-eyed enough to spot 'treasure' on the beach - sea glass. Over the centuries, glass found its way into the sea, either from ships discarding empty bottles or from life in coastal villages. Being rolled around in the waves and sand, scrubs the old glass to a smooth, polished finish. Many people, myself included, collect this glass and make jewellery and other interesting things from it.

During our travels, we'll "meet the locals" when we stop to chat to and photograph iconic Highland Cows (locally known as coos) along the way.
